The journey of a volunteer
United with Israel now and always
In the wake of the devastating October 7 pogrom that struck the people of Israel, I feel an urgent call to stand in solidarity with them and show them that they are not alone in their suffering. My trip to Israel becomes a desperate act to preserve hope and goodness in the world, in an attempt to counteract the hatred that still persists. My motivation arises from the deep pain caused by anti-Semitism, an affliction that has deeply marked me. The evil of the world disturbs me and fills me with helplessness, but it drives me to take action in defense of life in all its forms.
My visit to Israel has multiple purposes: to honor the memory of the fallen, to immerse myself in its culture and history, and to offer my support and solidarity to the Jewish people. Picking oranges, harvesting strawberries, and packaging food for those in need are concrete gestures that I contribute. Furthermore, I am committed to listening to your testimonies, providing comfort, and easing, even just a little, your shared pain. I deeply regret that some consider me complicit in genocide because of my Jewish heritage, when in reality this heritage drives me to defend life and fight for justice.
My heart trembles as I dance and sing in Hebrew, longing to keep alive the hope of a country that cries out for peace and love of neighbor. I decide to hold on to that promise of a better future, rejecting the evil that tries to darken our path. My motivation is fueled by a deep sense of horror at injustice, but also by a firm belief in the possibility of a more just and compassionate world.
While there, I witnessed the gratitude and hope on the faces of our brothers in Israel. Everywhere, I heard messages of optimism and resilience, without any hatred or revenge. They need us, and our presence and help are an essential comfort in such difficult times. We committed to sharing our experiences and being ambassadors for the truth about Israel. This journey will be etched in our hearts forever, and I hope it inspires others to join together in solidarity and compassion.
Long live Israel! May your light and your spirit of unity illuminate our paths and guide us towards a future of peace and justice for all.
Am Israel Haï!
