Silvia Leida, President of Atid

Dear Friends,

As President of this community, I would like to share a small personal story that led me to this role and that demonstrates how active participation in the community can change our lives in unexpected ways.

A few years ago, my husband and I came to Atid with our children Andrea and Gonzalo, who were six and four years old at the time. Our main motivation was to provide them with a non-formal Jewish education in a Jewish environment, since they went to a French school.

At that time, my main focus was on my studies of Judaism and attending classes with Rabbis Edery or Rubén Sternschein depending on the year and with other Rabbis from outside of Spain.

I was not very involved in community activities at the time, as I had very few free hours.

However, there came a day when the girls were teenagers, when I felt it was time to give something back to the community that had given us so much and was going through a delicate time.

It was a period of personal reflection on what I wanted from my community and in which I decided it was time to get more actively involved in Atid.

That opportunity arose and when a list of candidates was needed for the new community board, I decided to run along with some friends and acquaintances.

What followed was a super intense time in which we worked hard as a team.

Together, we faced challenges, promoted exciting projects, and brought our community together in a beautiful way over the years.

It was an enriching and rewarding experience that changed me forever.

Today, as President of Atid, I remain firmly committed to the goal of strengthening our community and providing opportunities for all members to express their Judaism freely in Atid, as well as growing the community for our young people, the true future of Atid.

I want to encourage each of you to consider getting involved in the community as it is through our active participation that we truly make a difference and build a vibrant future for our Kehillah.

Together we are unstoppable and I hope that this story inspires many of you to take part and participate in building an even brighter and better future.

With love and gratitude,

Silvia Leida
